Trends We Love for 2023

We all know trends come and go, and personal style is forever, but it’s still fun to play into the trends! Here are a few of my favorite trends I hope to see more of in 2023.

Unexpected texture

Fluting is a great way to bring in some texture to a typically ‘flat’ material. whether it’s a fluted shower tile, or a fluted wood console it’s a yes from me! Another texture i am loving is spackled or limewashed painted walls.

Monochromatic + Tone on Tone

I think this will be something I will always love, I’ve never been a huge fan of mixing a variety of colors, heavy contrasts, or big colorful prints. Keeping a color palette limited to the same area of the color wheel will keep a more calming and cohesive space. (hot tip: pair tonal patterns and solids to give your space all the dimension you want without the busy-ness of too much color like we did here in our newton powder bath)

Moody Hues

Often times clients are hesitant to paint spaces a darker color because they think it will make the space darker - it won’t! But, painting the largest piece of furniture dark and the walls white will definitely make the space feel crowded. If you embrace the darkness and really lean into a deep color in a purposeful and thoughtful way, your space will feel rich + moody.

Burl

LOVE! obsessed with burl and have been for years, and I am thrilled to see more and more furniture pieces made with burl. Keep ‘em coming, please!

Curves + Arches

Away with everything being square! Mixing in arched doorways or cabinet doors (or coffee tables) will quickly soften up the edges of a space, without having to bring in the willa wonka pebble shaped coffee table thats filling our instagram and pinterest feeds as of late.

Cozy + Colorful

Gone are the days of all white paired with white oak accents for warmth. Now, don’t get me wrong, wood does bring warmth to a space but no amount of wood paired with white will replace the warmth of some intentional colors and textures. Start by bringing in more colors (stick to a small area of the color wheel), play with a lot of textures, and you’ll still achieve a clean no-fuss space.

Knurled Hardware

I will always love polished hardware, but I do hate cleaning fingerprints off them constantly. Adding texture brings just enough interest for a classic kitchen to be timeless without being boring.
